One of the highlights of 2016 was the release of the AdWords app. The app is a great way to monitor and manage your accounts while you are on the go. In the past, there were times when I was traveling and had to make changes using the non-mobile friendly interface. Now, you can easily view performance, pause campaigns or ad groups, or make a payment directly from the app.
The AdWords app is available for both iOS and Android.
Once you download the app and log in, you will be able to easily adjust the timeframe and review basic stats, including:
- Impressions
- Clicks
- CTR
- Avg CPC
- Cost
- Avg position
- Conversions
Click the pencil icon in the top right corner to select your desired date range. The same date ranges that are available on desktop are also available within the app.
You can swipe within the main interface and it will show you different graphs for impressions, devices, network, click type, and day of the week. Here are a few examples of what the graphs look like.
At the bottom of the screen, you can click on any of the options to view your campaigns, ad groups, keywords, or ads.
Inside these views, you can click on the icon at the top of the screen to reorder the columns so you can view stats in the order that is most important.
The AdWords app does include some limitations.
- Ad copy – You are not able to edit your ad copy, but you can pause or enable ads within the account
- Keywords – You are not able to add new keywords to the account, but you can edit your bids and pause or enable keywords.
- Campaigns – You are able to change budget and pause and enable campaigns, but you cannot change locations
- Ad groups – You are able to change bids and pause and enable ad groups, but you cannot change bidding strategies
Also, if you click on the Opportunities banner, you will receive recommendations. Although I might be more inclined to wait until I am able to review the account in detail before applying these changes. However, if the recommendations make sense, you can quickly apply them from your phone.
Another great option is that you can easily add a new payment method or make a payment directly within the app. This option will certainly help keep your account active and limit downtime. There have been times in the past where a client called with a new credit card that needed to be updated right away. This billing feature certainly would have been useful.
We hope this article about Adwords Apps helps you keep an eye on your performance during this holiday season.
