Google’s own Aitan Weinberg, product manager for AdWords remarketing, has released a post on the Inside AdWords blog announcing that a year after rolling out the feature, remarketing has hit it out of the park!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with remarketing, check out this article Jessica wrote for PPC Hero on how to find remarketing success. The abridged purpose of remarketing is to reach your previous website visitors with extremely relevant ads as they browse around other sites, and Weinberg provides some staggering remarketing statistics:
- The total number of advertisers using remarketing grew at an average of 113% each quarter in 2010 after the feature was rolled out.
- Yankee Candle (no, that’s not a hint to my choice baseball team) instituted remarketing to re-engage their shoppers and reported back a 600% increase in conversion rates and a 50% decrease in cost-per-conversion .
- On average, 84% of users who are included on a remarketing list are reached.
Those are definitely stats to make you say, “Hmm, maybe this remarketing thing is worth a try,” but Weinberg says Google isn’t done refining this tool to benefit website publishers and advertisers alike: “In the coming months, we have plans to introduce a suite of new features that will make remarketing even smarter, faster and more dynamic.”
What do you think those additional features will be? Have you tried remarketing and observed stunning results like Yankee Candle? Share your thoughts and experiences with us in the comments section below!
